About
Tonic Financials is run by Kathryn Kerr, a DIY musician for the past 10 years in Winnipeg, Canada.
It began with a familiar story; looming tax deadlines, a shoebox of receipts, and an identity crisis of whether you can truly be an artist AND a successful business. Kathryn soon realized that she always enjoyed the DIY route when it came to her arts practice, so she started applying it to her finances; avoiding the need for financial services from professionals who didn’t understand the music industry. She registered as a small business, tackled tax preparation, extensively researched grants and arts funding, and started seeking out non-profit work that could help her on her journey. After discovering her knack for organization and numbers, she decided to continue her education, while being an active musician and holding a day job.
Today she has 7 years of experience working in arts administration and non-profits, holds a Bachelor’s of Music and is Quickbooks Pro Certified. Tonic Financials has grown out of a personal need for financial clarity and understanding, into a full-service small business, seeking to help other creatives grow their businesses. Whatever stage you are at in your career, Kathryn can work through your financial scenario with you in a confidential, comfortable, and collaborative way.
When she’s not crunching numbers you can find Kathryn wailing on saxophone and keyboards in KEN mode, playing guitar and singing in Tansy and Merin, or playing synthesizers withViva Non.
